Terrazzo

Terrazzo is a confetti-style design created by combining broken bits of marble, colored glass, quartz, or porcelain with poured concrete. Its roots start in Egyptian mosaics, but it became popular in 16th century Italy to make use of stone offcuts. Terrazzo reached peak popularity in the mid-century modern architectural style that started in the 1950s. Designers of this period favored terrazzo for its monolithic, minimalist look.
