ABOUT ME
My name is Bo and I'm based in small town in Leicestershire.
I studied aesthetics in philosophy of arts and was art gallery director for many years.
I create concrete craft since 2023.
At So Simple Studio I'm passionate about the art of concrete design.
I use only the highest-quality materials to create home decor products that will make your space stand out.
My goal is to provide functional and elegant products that are sustainably produced.
CONCRETE CARE & MATERIALS
Each piece is individually hand-cast in small batches using high-quality concrete.
Natural pigments, protective wax, and a clear varnish are carefully applied to enhance the surface and preserve its finish.
Because concrete is a natural material, variations in colour, texture, and small air bubbles are part of its unique character — no two pieces are ever the same.
Care Instructions:
- Wipe gently with a soft, damp cloth.
- Avoid abrasive cleaners or soaking in water.
- Handle with care — concrete can chip or crack if dropped.
- Not microwave or dishwasher safe.
- Not suitable for direct food contact.
- Not suitable for direct candle pouring. To prevent heat damage or cracking, always use a separate glass or metal candle container.
With the right care, your piece will maintain its timeless look for years to come.
THE PROCESS
Each piece starts with concrete poured by hand into silicone moulds. After a few days, when it’s firm enough, I gently sand and smooth the surface to bring out its natural texture.
I use natural pigments for calm, earthy tones. The colours settle in their own way, so every piece is unique.
Concrete is a slow, patient material. It takes about 4 weeks to fully cure and reach its full strength.
I finish each item with wax and a breathable sealant. This protects the surface but keeps the natural feel of concrete, so it remains slightly porous and not fully waterproof.
Because of the moulds and pigments I use, I’m not able to offer custom shapes or colours.
